The Petivity Smart Litter Box Monitor uses AI technology to track your cat’s weight, urination, and defecation events each time they use their litter box.
It then delivers that data to your Petivity app in easy-to-read charts and monthly email reports about your cat’s well-being. It also alerts you to key changes that may indicate a health issue requiring a veterinary diagnosis, so you’ll have data in hand if you decide to seek care.
One monitor can track up to 5 cats. If your home has more than one litter box, we suggest buying one monitor per box to get a complete look into their daily habits.

Setting Up Your Monitor

1. Place your litter box on the monitor
Once your monitor arrives, extend the feet and place it on a hard, flat surface. Then center your cat’s litter box on top, making sure it’s stable and secure.

2. Download the Petivity app and create your cat's profile
Download the free Petivity app from the App Store or Google Play. Sync the app with your monitor and create a profile for each cat that uses the litter box — up to 5 cats per monitor!

3. Watch as your cat's data comes in
As the Petivity AI gets to know your cat’s litter box habits, it will begin identifying which cat used the box, what they did, and how long they were there. You’ll see it all organized into clear, easy-to-read charts in the Petivity app.

No – the Smart Litter Box Monitor is a monitoring device that sits underneath your existing litter box, allowing it to fit seamlessly into almost any environment with minimal disruption to your cats. See if your litter box is compatible here.
Will the Smart Litter Box Monitor work with my litter box?
Petivity Smart Litter Box Monitor is designed to work with most litter boxes and litter pans. The exceptions are triangular-shaped or self-cleaning litter boxes or litter boxes larger than 16” x 21”. The litter box should be sized and shaped to fit completely on the monitor.
I have more than one cat. Does the Smart Litter Box Monitor work with multiple cats?
Yes, Petivity Smart Litter Box Monitor works with multiple cats, without the need for a special collar or chip. To differentiate between your cats, Petivity will need your help to train its AI (artificial intelligence). Through the first few weeks of use, you’ll be notified when a litter box event needs more information from you. After confirming at least eight events per cat, the frequency of these prompts will decrease. If your cats are close in weight, you may need to label more than eight events to help the monitor learn to distinguish between them.
Please note that the Petivity system’s performance has been validated in households that have no more than five cats. We cannot guarantee performance in households with more than five cats, and some aspects of the system, like the insight reports, will not be available. I have a kitten. Can the Smart Litter Box track the weight and litter box habits of my kitten?
Kittens grow and change quickly, which means their weight and behavioral data change quickly, too. Occasionally, these changes can negatively affect the accuracy of your data or cause false alerts. For now, we don’t recommend using Petivity with kittens.
Can other people in my home, family members or cat sitters, use and view the data in my Petivity app?
To maintain the integrity and accuracy of your Petivity data, it’s important to manage your monitors from a single device.
